Surrendering Our Broken Pieces

Alexandra Jensen shares her heart in Surrendering Our Broken Pieces and how God gives us grace.

You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. Genesis 50:20

I have walked through various trials throughout my life: health issues, heart issues, faith issues, new mommy issues, and marriage issues. Something the Lord has been tugging on my heart about lately is to be real about the issues of my past and present to encourage and comfort others with the same consolation I have received from Christ.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Walking In the Light of God’s Grace:

The truth is, I am not perfect. My marriage is not perfect. My life is not perfect. I am not the perfect mom. I am not the perfect wife. But I walk in the light of God’s grace each day. Christ’s mercies are new every morning (Lam. 3:22-23).

  • He is faithful to forgive.
  • He is faithful to make us new.
  • He is faithful to use us, broken pieces and all.

The thing about a broken vessel is that it is better able to leak Christ’s grace and Living Water to a world in need. Your brokenness does not disqualify you, but qualifies you to be used by Jesus in unique and powerful ways.

God’s grace is amazing. He redeems our lives in full. God wants to use your shattered pieces to portray a beautiful mosaic of His faithful love. Offer up your broken pieces as a sacrifice. Allow God to use your brokenness for his glory, to uplift others, for the purpose of “saving many lives.”

The Power of Our Testimony:

Our testimonies are a powerful tool that can point others to the One who has pulled us out of life’s pits. Instead of hiding our struggles, let’s share them so that others can pray for us and help carry the burden. Instead of saying, “I’m fine” when we’re not, let’s tell the truth so that others can encourage us. And when we do turn the page and find ourselves in a lighter season, let us praise God and help others who go through similar struggles.

The truth is, we all struggle. It’s how we use our struggles in life to aid others in what they may be going through that matters. Let’s surrender our broken pieces for God’s glory and divine purposes.

Prayer:

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for your amazing grace. Your unconditional forgiveness is a gift I will never take for granted. Your unwavering love makes me want to live for you wholeheartedly, always and forever. Thank you, Jesus, for your love and sacrifice, for redeeming a sinner like me.

Lord, I surrender the broken pieces of my life and pray that you would make something beautiful from the shrapnel that used to be a source of pain for me. Transform my brokenness into something beautiful that brings you glory and encourages others.

In Jesus’ wonderful name I pray, amen.

  1. My name is Ami and I am 80 yrs old, 81 in November. I am divorced 3x and have no “little ones”. I am now living in California, having moved here on my 50th birthday to escape my second ex. If you want to pray for me, my health is my broken pieces. Arthritis (getting worse), asthma (doc says I am still doing okay althougth), and something wrong with my legs where they swell and hurt a lot. I am also a bcs (breast cancer survivor). I closed my business of 15 yrs taking care of animals so people could take trips when I was diagnosed with bc. So I am now 2-1/2 yrs clear of cancer so far. But God! He keeps me going doing things for Him. Just finished repairing choir robes (seamstress for 63 yrs). He knows all I have been thru and I exist for Him because HE has never hurt me.

  2. Dearest Alex, this is the exactly what the enemy of our soul does not want us to know. When we sisters in Christ trust our husbands and godly friends we begin to walk in the freedom of Truth and reflect the Light of Jesus. It’s only when we are transparent that we can effectively pray for each other and break free from deception. Hallelujah!

  3. Love this! A great encouragement to continue sharing how God works in our struggles and weaknesses.

  4. This is beautiful, Alex! Our testimonies are powerful to help others and to defeat the enemy. I will offer up my broken pieces to God today and let Him use it all to redeem my story and bring Him glory. Thank you Brianna for posting this beautiful post, very encouraging read this morning. Blessings … 🙏💕
