This daily Bible was a surprise to receive (I’d forgotten that it was coming) from HarperCollins Publishing. Thank you for sending me this beautiful devotional Bible!
Pros
This hardback book makes me smile each time I see it. At first, I was afraid the beautiful, calming picture was only on the dust jacket, but it’s actually on the cover too! The reflection of the lake picture is not only symbolic but also a serene picture for this Bible. The hardcover is a nice touch so the cover doesn’t get beat up as I put it in bags to read on the go, etc.
For your reading pleasure, the days are in the Table of Contents ready for you to start. You can start reading at any point in the year. Max Lucado writes the introduction as well as each day’s devotional. The reading is a section of the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs each day. I love this different approach to the reading plan.
Great Gift
This Bible would make a great gift for anyone. Not only is it not too masculine or too feminine so it’s an all-around good choice. It would be perfect for quiet time either in the morning or evening. The daily reading is only a few pages. This is not a red-letter Bible. There is an included satin bookmark to help keep your place.
Translation
The translation for this particular copy is the New King James Version. There are 1331 pages, with no maps, etc. Keep in mind this isn’t a study Bible but a devotional Bible with a preplanned reading plan for the year. The daily devotionals are based on the day’s reading. The print is at the 8.5 comfort print, which is big enough for me to read, with two-column pages throughout.
